The @NYCComptroller audited the NYPD's ShotSpotter contract and found some problems. The system misses confirmed gunshots (156 in one year in just one borough) and 87 percent of the time it sends cops chasing things that don't seem to be be gunshots:

The NYPD is stopping more and more New Yorkers during the Eric Adams administration. According to new data released by NYCLU, in the first three months of 2024, NYPD officers stopped 6,110 New Yorkers; 92 percent of the people stopped were Black or Latine.
