An Israeli tank crew killed a Reuters reporter in Lebanon in October by firing two shells at a clearly identified group of journalists and then "likely" opened fire on them with a heavy machine gun.

25 out of 36 libraries closing. Jesus. This is a tragedy for Birmingham. But it's also a tragedy for the UK if, with all our prosperity, ingenuity and resources, we've mishandled things so badly that we can no longer afford the basic services which are the foundations of a civilised country.

Yes. The question I'm left with is: would more people use this tech if they knew about it / if it were a bit better? Or is there a creepiness barrier that will kill it for the foreseeable future?

Biden a flawed candidate, but has real strengths too. Any thoughts on whether another Democrat would have been better placed to beat Trump?

I’m not a fan of banning political parties but there is something perverse if the German constitutional court, made mighty to prevent the return of far-right authoritarianism, can block the government from borrowing to pay for the green transition but can’t do anything about the AfD.

Ah interesting framing! But I don't think this changes my view that it's not a good game: 1) when people are guessing wildly, there is no skill-based way to avoid suspicion, 2) even if you do somehow avoid suspicion, you can be murdered (indeed the traitors have more reason to murder you).

This is an absolutely brutal assessment of UK climate policy progress from the official body the OEP

🟥Progress is "limited"
🟥Prospects of meeting targets "largely not on track"

🔊"emissions reduction rates must quadruple within eight years to meet targets"
