And even on the gender feels front, we’ve all known eggs, we’ve all been eggs, but trans people who don’t realize they’re trans until *after* they’ve transitioned? This is a new and largely unexplored (and surprisingly potent) angle on gender feels.

I know people talk a lot about how Dorley is a "deconstruction of force femme tropes", and it is that, but what it's really interested in is what makes the fantasy appealing, and so there's a lot of stuff about the desire and need for community beyond just the gender feels.

As somebody who kinda wished there were “bonus scenes” and spent a lot time reading “the literature”, I think outright smuttiness would really undermine what Dorley is trying to do, which is look at the feelings *hiding behind* the horny, which the smut made very easy to ignore.
