I learned at an engineering conference recently that one crypto mine in TX, 100s of MW, makes more money off ERCOT demand response markets than it does off crypto repeat: TX ratepayers pay them more to sometimes stop mining than they make by actual mining just bananas misuse of power markets 🔌💡

We moved to Rhode Island this year after living in Texas for many years. People forget that a cross-country move is really expensive! We’re lucky enough to have the resources to make it happen but most people just don’t.

I think the 1st Assistant Director might be the real choice—as I understand it, they’re the ones who deal with all of the on-set logistics so the director can focus more on creative decisions.

The extra electricity needed for crypto use would supposedly encourage the providers to build more capacity. Remember, it’s a total scam so don’t expect it to make too much sense.

It’s ridiculous but this is a real argument Greg Abbott has been making in Texas. The b.s. claim is that you invite these projects in to suck down electricity and it will encourage grid expansion. Then when there’s a power shortage THE GOVT PAYS THEM TO STOP USING ELECTRICITY.

Many years ago, my wife and I took the ferry from San Francisco to Angel Island. By coincidence, a Great Pyrenees *club* was also on board and it was amazing! 30 giant white dogs and one angry, angry lawyer in a black suit.
