Just did this. It takes two minutes. Meta purposely tries to make it confusing and time-consuming, but with the linked step-by-step, it's very easy.
You've got until midnight, gang.
I went through the process, specifically mentioning #copyright, telling them that they have no right to give my posts/photos to 3rd parties or to scrape them themselves to train AI.
Their response: if you can’t give an example of a query returning something recognizably yours, pound sand, loser!😳
two notes -- you don't have to do 11 steps, the direct link should take you directly to the form, at least in the US. This also does not do anything to stop Meta from training its AI on stuff you've written/uploaded. It's only for data meta got from other companies
He’ll, I just deleted all my content, bookmarked all 500 accounts I followed, and deleted my account all together. I spent 2 hours trying to follow articles like this but my available settings never matched. Good riddance, Meta.
Thanks for this. I'm skeptical it does anything real - I don't think we have US privacy laws in place yet that would force them to opt you out and the email response is that they're going to follow all applicable laws. 🙄 But at least an objection is recorded as received in writing.
