Sticking with Biden or running Harris would be *far* less risky than dedicating two of the next four months to Democrat infighting, followed by an unprecedented delegate voting process and dubious chances of even getting on the ballot. Knowing this shit is supposed to be these people's job

The thing about the end of Chevron for environmental and natural-resource regulations is, every env policy person has a personal rage list of half a dozen regs that bend over backwards to accommodate polluters. With agency deference gone, it's time to sue for strict interpretation of env law.

I think it's high time we make a rule that says that in order to be paid as a national political pundit you must spend one (1) week canvassing door-to-door in a place you do not live.

It's hard to explain how widespread the repercussions of overturning Chevron deference will be. Even if you narrow the scope down to tech policy, you're left wrangling a super-explainer on a friday afternoon www.theverge.com/24188365/che...

OK enviro/energy/EJ brain trust, in your judgment, which regs and other statutory interpretations are most vulnerable to attack by the right-wing extremists that we need to be strategizing to defend?

CARB continues to treat catenary as an afterthought. An on-paper analysis of zero emissions freight did not explicitly study catenary, even though wired trains are the only mature ZE freight rail tech and ideal for high-traction conditions like the Cajon pass. www.trains.com/trn/news-rev...

This really stresses how brief a window we have to patch state+federal reclamation obligations before stranded oil infrastructure becomes a public liability. We're talking a few legislative sessions before those efforts get swamped by cries to subsidize critical oil infrastructure.

Like many others point out, this is why we need to tax them now while they’re profitable. Feels also like we could learn from coal- companies will still profit but regularly file for bankruptcy, which screws over workers, communities, and the land.

I've been wondering (when not feeling cynical) when an established company would back strong H2 standards for business reasons. Given the flood of new entrants, established H2 producers can gain a huge competitive advantage by restricting access to subsidies.
