Sticking with Biden or running Harris would be *far* less risky than dedicating two of the next four months to Democrat infighting, followed by an unprecedented delegate voting process and dubious chances of even getting on the ballot. Knowing this shit is supposed to be these people's job
I feel like I'm going crazy because people who supposedly cover politics keep talking about having until convention or a floor fight. But, unless something has changed, delegates have to vote considerably before the convention to be on the Ohio ballot. abcnews.go.com/Politics/dnc...
If you're so concerned about the stakes of this election you could just... spend the next four months writing about the stakes of this election. A constant drip of articles calling the Democratic nominee unfit is also not a great strategy for winning!
Why is it so flipping hard for dems to vote blue. The act of lifting your finger and pressing a button for blue candidates or fill out a little form that takes all of a few minutes isn’t that hard, people.
I don't know what would be electorally best for democrats or whatever, but like, we have a system for picking the nominee and president if something happens to the president. It's the vp!
Why is being senile somehow worse then being dead so it disqualifies your vp?!
My old position was that I didn't care but Harris was the only real alternative, my position after throwing trans kids under the bus is pro-Harris, but either way it's Harris or Biden and it's insanity to imagine anything else.
I think Harris is the ideal compromise position, because it means Biden supporters/replacement skeptics are annoyed, but the punditocracy also have to live with the choice they keep explicitly ruling out.
(Also, just mechanically easier to do.)
NYT: “We need a new politics reporter. What are your qualifications?”
Some dumbass: “Well, I failed high school civics, sir.”
NYT: “Perfect. You’re hired.”
Going with a sundowning candidate whose running mate is also very unpopular could not be more risky than almost anything else they do. Just like the messy process of passing legislation in congress 90% of voters won't pay attention to the convention. Just the candidate once September rolls around.
