I know the feeling - I worked on the original Crimson Skies PC game, but good luck finding it anywhere legally... the Xbox sequel, that none of us from the original team had anything to do with? That's readily available, but the original is abandonware....
It's frustrating that this isn't really news, I was in library school nearly 15 years ago, and one of the professors thought that video games were well archived/back compatible, and this was when before they had made the smart step to build consoles on x86
I found a copy once, in a jewel case, for 50 bucks, and it wouldn't run, so now the download from abandonia lives on a flash drive I keep in my box of old backups
that was a great game! Also thank you for creatively breaking the Xbox Live stats servers. That was a great retrospective that I still use as an example today. ;)
In the future I will build a PC out of old parts to be able to play Freespace 2, if need be.
"DIVE! DIVE! DIVE! HIT YOUR BURNERS, PILOT!"
No survival horror jump scare has ever sent as much adrenaline squirting into my bloodstream as hearing that for the first time.
"John Hudgens [Republic of Texas]" it says here, checks out. I know where my copy of the rather spiffy "Air Action Weekly" instruction manual is, the CD could be anywhere in the stacks.
