Musk has turned Twitter into a playground for misogynists, right-wing extremists, climate deniers, conspiracy nuts, fanatics and Putin trolls. He calls it eXtreme.

What an interesting idea with an accessible execution! The quick shift from quant to qualitative + quant anticipated my "next ?." Very cool. Sad what's happened to TWTR but love being here where it's easy to find great new follows. It's like down town in a college town.

This is a little depressing. And not just about Xhitter. Keep up the good work. We need some better news someday.

I was in the woods once. Found a kids drinking campsite from night before. They put out the fire in the rude pit. Good job. However the ground was smoking in a line to a large pine. I got a stick and dug . A root on fire all night. Like a cartoon fuse.

I read in the Spring that many fires were smoldering all Winter. A Winter with little snowfall.

What those in the north who want warmer weather and milder winters don't get is that with the warmer weather, you also get an increase in invasive insects that would normally have been killed off by that cold winter.

Normalized responses -- the total number of likes and shares, divided by number of followers -- were highest here (yay!) and lowest on X.

I wonder why so many people deny climate change is happening, despite the signs literally being around us with the horrific heat waves, larger wildfires, and massive flooding? McCook Lake, near North Sioux CIty SD, was completely destroyed by raging floods caused by torrential rain. NW Iowa too.

Thanks for creating a place for those kept us trying to keep up with climate science. There is still some useful commentary on Twitter but I do spend way too much time blocking the trolls.

I jumped early, first to Threads, and then spent months thinking maybe I was a bit hasty. Thanks for putting the data behind my decision to end up here Katharine!

We are staying in a high rise on False Creek in Vancouver that was build without air conditioning within the last 15 years. At least the windows open and there is a breeze on the 14th floor but thatโ€™s nuts.

I have a cousin in Ontario who has sugar maples and every year he used to harvest sap and make dozens of liters of maple syrup. This year it was too warm and the sap didn't run, so no syrup.
