It's important to note that this single-post analysis above is entirely consistent with a much more comprehensive analysis by @ketanjoshi.co showing that changes in the X algorithm and moderation policies that began in Oct 2022 have massively favoured trolls and penalized climate scientists.

Berardelli Bonus: May and June were excruciatingly hot in Mexico. In many respects the worst heatwave in modern history there. @WWAttribution did a study and found the heat to be 35-200X more likely due to climate pollution.

This process of replacing power lines is called “reconductoring” (because a power line is a conductor of electricity). New power line materials can move almost double the power on the same line. We should be reconductoring everywhere now. In the next inflation reduction act, we need a grid new deal.

So many thoughts. Thank you for asking!!! For-profit news has a well-established negative bias, because bad news generates the most shares + clicks. Because they're not incentivized to share news of positive progress, there's a significant imbalance in what's being communicated.

Love Kate but don’t love the framing here, not at all. Rational hope is not based on expensive and energy intensive technologies. It’s based on real action, a lot of which is happening and a lot more of which needs to. Implying DAC and CCS are the only sources of hope is misleading and unhelpful.

This same point applies, only even more so, for those switching from resistance space heating to heat pump space heating, since space heating consumes much more electricity than water heating. About 1 in 7 US households used resistance heating as primary heat source as of 2015.

Shell have just closed all their hydrogen filling stations in California, the home of hydrogen. Could it possibly be that the fossil fuel industry wanted to push hydrogen as a fuel for cars because 98% of all currently available hydrogen is steam reformed from methane gas? Surely not.
