the day i mailed my ballot in late October i went for a walk on the canal. a MAGA boomer was there doing photography and asked me about masks & Fauci etc. when i said I’d supported Bernie he made a sign of the cross 😬 then he hinted at plans for Jan 6. such a weird conversation w so many admissions

I was trying to figure out how they would coup. I thought they'd kidnap a handful of our legislators when they were driving in, declare a crisis, seize power.
Just rushing the fucking doors was not on my bingo card that day.
There was a two week period when our office was officially closed due to the ongoing credible threat of domestic terrorism but that didn’t change any commutes because people hadn’t come into the office for nearly a year due to the ongoing pandemic
I don't know if it's because I choose to move to the Seacoast that fall after looking around NYC that summer and concluding I could not be around people when the next wave hit or driving down to Boston and seeing young people drunk off Trump's loss but that period is seared in my memory
I was in the daily terror of my spouse going back to work in person as a h.s. teacher in a county that didn't believe in the virus, the vaccine, masks, etc. And I was already disabled from Lyme. No mystery where my anxiety disorder comes from!
