I feel people need to remember that Meta will very very likely absolutely NOT honor your opt-out requests, even if they are accepted. There has been similar events in the past, and they always preferred to sit it out and/or pay penalties instead. Be careful what you post to their apps in the future.

This doesn’t only apply to artists, I wouldn’t want my selfies or personal life data anywhere near that place anymore either. ☠️

Please also consider installing uBlock Origin so you can block the meta pixel. It routinely shows up in news where a company misconfigured their website sending private information to Meta. For example: www.usatoday.com/story/tech/n...

They ban entire countries from their own news just cause the governments said "hey can you throw a few pennies out of the billions you earn from as revenue towards our news sites, please?" Meta of course will not care about opt out requests.

That is what corporate scoundrels do, cheaper to pay wrist slap fines than do the right thing.

Oh yeah, they worded that opt-out page in such a way that makes it clear they can choose to go against your wishes anyways.

If you don't want to/can't leave meta, here's a reminder to poison your posts with nightshade and glaze 😊

I deactivated my private account a while ago but spent over an hour deleting every post off my public account after I saw the posts about Meta's dogshit decision. Only thing still there now is a text image saying "Ai can die" and some other shit.

It's also worded (in French at least) in a way that says that they will stop using your data for training from now on, which clearly means that they already finished training with all our past data.

The language in that facebook opt-out request was very odd. None of it's very firm, like you just "object" to them using your information, not denying them to do so. It stinks.

I was thinking that too. Still opted out, though, just in case.

Also, holy heck. Emptying out Instagram is a chore, I’m basically having to delete things 3 times. Delete Post! Delete Archive! Delete recently Deleted! I’m nearing the finish line, but oof. Wish I had the archive off to begin with

I’ve been assuming that any company suddenly announcing they’re going to sell data to AI have already done it and don’t care who wants to opt out.

Yeah they even put, "We may still process information about you to develop and improve AI at Meta, even if you object or don’t use our Products and services" in the objection form, so 🙃

For shits and giggles, I sent an opt out through my private account where there's nothing uploaded. And just tore them a new asshole. Calling them thieves and ethically corrupt. I know no one will read it, but it was therapy for me, dude x'D

They don't even honor my attempts to opt out of being served certain ad types, they're certainly not honoring this

So, tumblr also had an opt out and it was more of a request form than an actual opt out and this looked like the same thing.

This is correct lol. I did their opt out bullshit, which was very hard to access in the first place and I got a reply like 2 months later that just amounted to 'you don't qualify to opt out' I kinda just stared at the email like 'welp'
