The one point I will clarify from this otherwise very good article is that while the National Science Challenges were always time-limited, their funding was pulled from *existing* science funding. That's practically a whole Marsden Fund gone, relative to 2014.

The people who say things like 'I just don't think kids should be able to be in X space that I go because they annoy me/make me feel uncomfortable' should try swapping 'kids' with any other group of people and then reflect on how that sounds... children are human beings. End of story.

Okay SERIOUSLY the fact that instagram has the backspace button next to the enter button which on their stupid app is the 'post' button but also don't have editing is INFURIATING. I am trying to FIX A TYPO not POST MY COMMENT. And people think meta is some big company full of geniuses 🙄

The older I get the more terrified I get of the thought of teenagers driving. Like yea I did it but man. Also just generally think the way we approach driving competency in this country is inadequate tho especially since we continue to not provide comprehensive alternatives but. Anyway.

Can't stop thinking about this post I saw about a parent who didn't want to have to drive their kid to school anymore so kept bugging them to get their drivers licence and when someone was like why can't they just bike they were like 'oh that's not safe'.. so you would rather your teenager DRIVE?!?

Okay bluesky longshot but does anyone have this book I could buy from you?!? I have all five others in the series but not this one (#4), and I can't even find it in any online libraries to read. There are a few copies available on international secondhand sites but with expensive shipping to nz..

Yep. I haven't had a period in several years due to my birth control which is BLISS. I never had particularly painful or difficult periods but they were an inconvenience I didn't enjoy (especially as a particularly active in the outdoors young woman) and never made me feel 'feminine', just annoyed.

Also I am still in bed because so far, so far I seem to be feeling a bit better, and don't want to jeopardise anything. I got nine hours of sleep propped up on a big pillow instead of flat on my face like usual and it seems to have helped. Still a bit grotty but nowhere near as groggy as yesterday.

Hmm, I don't really get this kind of thing. It just seems super unsafe. Like in general I don't understand unrestrained animals in vehicles. 'I love my dog so much I'm going to let him interfere with my driving and also provide no safety measures for him in case of a crash' seems.. problematic.

What I particularly love about my stuffed wombat is that he is a UNIT. He's pretty solid for a stuffed toy. Someone gave me another one once and it was just too soft and squishy.

I always answer my phone. To be fair it doesn't ring much, but I can't get access to my voicemail anymore and some of the places that might ring me wouldn't be able to txt. But idk. I've just always answered my phone.

I don't know whether this helps but it may sound like that's 'nearly over' because both numbers are in the 20,000 range, but that's still nearly a third still to go... you've got 30% of an average lifespan left to live it up!

I am just so over this miserable ducking cough. And the stuffy/runny/sneezy nose. And the itchy eyes. I have been coughing so much I feel like I'm going to eject my organs and I've blown my nose so much it now bleeds. Like I get it. I caught a bug. But it's been ten days. Please just let me live.

I saw a take the other day that was like 'when people make movie adaptations of books they have to change up the story so the book fans are still surprised' and I'm still like... so baffled by that. Like what? Why would someone who enjoyed the story in a book want a new story?
