I can understand the argument that voting is the bare minimum, and electoralism alone will not solve all the problems we face. But that still means you should at least be doing the bare minimum!

Sure, but it hasn't been shifted to the right by dem victories. Like, the tax rate didn't go down steadily. It dropped precipitously every time Dems lost, and at least held steady when they won.

Oh, I wasn't aware that the three different infrastructure bills his administration pushed through were passed by wide bipartisan agreement. That's some real news to me.

Biden's policies are significantly left of the two democrats we've had before him. I guess you can just ignore that fact because you'd rather be mad at him for not being Bernie, but it's rather undeniable.

The other classic resistance tactic of simply beating the fascists up with improvised weapons also appears to have put in some work.

WTF. The electric company in Texas doesn't have a map of outages so people have been using the Whataburger App to figure out who lost power. This is like when Homer was using the Krusty Burger map when they got lost at sea.

Can't say I'm surprised by a centrist liberal siding with the fascists over the popular leftist movement, but the fact that he cited such mild progressive causes as the reason is particularly obscene.

But can we also address the tepid response in the aftermath? Project 2025 is a real threat, just like all of the other things mentioned were. But also, whether or not it succeeds doesn't appear hinge on the outcome of an election if the opposition party doesn't engage in course correction.

Yeah man, it's really weird how you decided to bring zionism into a completely unrelated discussion that just happened to be about the economy and a possible cabal of economic elites controlling it. I can't think of any correlation there, can you?

Very weird to imply someone is Jewish because they don't agree with you on the existence of a fast food price fixing cabal.

I don't even know what you're attempting to say here. You're just having an incoherent freakout halfway down a thread you barged into, I guess because I dared to agree with you that taco bell is cheaper than my local taco shop due to their supply chain.

I really hate it when leftists end up making bizarre reactionary conspiracy theories instead of taking the time to learn the much more complex ways we're being screwed by capitalism.

So you think that all of the fast food companies actually do have a secret cabal that both fixes prices and can somehow totally insulate them from market-wide price hikes from massive global events like covid? I'm sorry, but that's really quite silly.

Sure, that's why fast food is inexpensive in general. But the rising cost of the food stock is the common denominator between taco bell costing more and my local burrito place raising their prices to stay in business.

Well, you can reject markets philosophically, but they're how the current economy is arranged. Seems not very productive to refuse to even bother understanding them. Outside of a spontaneous worldwide anarchist revolution, they do need to be engaged with in any realistic transition away from them.

You don't have to be a Marxist to understand that Marx's writing on capitalism specifically was ahead of its time and shouldn't be dismissed. I mean, unless you simply don't care to understand your enemy and would rather be a reactionary about fast food prices.

Yeah, and l'll bet 50 bucks that the survivors also raised their prices a bunch and you're just ok with it because they're selling good food and not literal slop like taco bell. Which is fine, but it's a good reason not to just trust your intuition with everything and refuse to look at the data.

They're definitely greedy bastards who will try to keep the high prices for as long as possible even now that beef has dropped back down, but a lot of those inputs have also stayed more expensive compared to pre-covid. You'll never an 89 cent burrito again unless you make it yourself.

Yes, actually. The price of beef pretty much tripled during the pandemic due to the massive supply chain disruption, followed by a spike in wages that's thankfully been permanent. And of course, that wage increase also means Taco Bell can get away with charging more.

Ever noticed how even the mom and pop restaurants have raised their menu prices dramatically? Ever noticed how the price of beef and other basic ingredients has gone up? Do you think they might be connected?
