for suuuure! especially any dog that is or recently been "trendy." local shelters definitely get the "I didn't know how smart/energetic this dog was" abandonment and "there's a shitty breeder out there somewhere dumping them and I hope we find them soon but in the meantime we have 46 labradoodles"

Seriously though. If you're looking at a rescue and half their dogs are purebred shiba inus "saved from an Asian dog meat market" you need to look really hard into them before adopting or donating. Either they're ignorant and racist enough to get scammed or they're hoping you are
