There are a lot of printers out there, all of which vary in service and quality. B&W will universally be cheaper, but if you really want color, compare prices before slapping down money. If you spec it out right, the cost gap may not be as wide as you expect.

This!!! Color, coated paper, and cover treatments can double the cost or more. At that price point you could buy them as samples to network too! Having something you can hold in your hand shows you can do it. Learning about the print process is invaluable, especially if you're just getting started.

Color is my main strength, but I could always use improvement, especially for work with backgrounds, there's a whole composition to consider and how the color and values and style treatment affect how it reads. I hope to explore that in my personal work! Nothing like using your OCs for experiments~

The best way to learn anything is honestly to make a comic! Writing? Character poses? Composition? Flow? Inking? Environments? Color? Comics have it all! I have some comic shorts I want to draw so I'm going to try to shove some of my art goals in there. The best practice is studying and then doing~

I think it's time to start an improvement journey, I've done plenty of figure drawing, I need to expand into territory I'm not comfortable with... composition and (better) inks. I know color is the main draw for my work, but I could afford to learn more about ink techniques and using spot blacks.
