My friends and ex colleagues from Sociology at Goldsmith's are being made redundant in one of the most incoherent, avoidable and short sighted decisions in UK HE in recent years. I'm gutted for them. And for the future students denied what they offered. This shouldn't be happening.

Running a successful (I think) conference is an absolute delight. I've learnt enough about myself in past few years to have scheduled today as a recovery day, but I'm still astonished at just how shattered I am. Worth it but takes about a fortnight of energy in one day
