Right. I figured the plan was abandoned after Episode I, but that article indicates the conversions continued until 2015, so why haven’t they been put out since on digital or streaming?

This first popped back into my brain when I went to check is Phantom Menace 3D was available on Disney+ for the Vision Pro. (It is not.) I’d love to know why those haven’t seen even a home release. Will they with the return to theaters?

Today I learned that all three Star Wars prequel films were converted to 3D, shown at Star Wars celebration 2015 but only ‘The Phantom Menace’ has ever been released elsewhere.

I find the trend of recording and repurposing @jimlee.bsky.social’s inside panel, back cover, and promotional illustrations as new cover arts to be hilarious.

It’s a shrewd and cynical way to do things but they’re so gorgeous I really don’t mind.
