One of my pet peeves is the modern usage of the word “wight” as a type of ghost or undead creature, because it’s purely fantasy guys misunderstanding Tolkien’s “barrow-wights” which just means “mound men” more or less. Wight is just the equivalent male term paired with “wyf” (wife, ie woman)

I lived in London at the end of The Troubles; I think that the IRA committing to a peace process with Sinn Féin as their political arm was a great victory all round. That the Tories betrayed the people of Northern Ireland with Brexit should be our great shame, and I am not surprised by this result.

Agreed for the most part, but two things: I'd go for STV (AV but in multi-member seats, so proportional) and I don't think AV would lead to a permanent Farageist presence. One good thing about preferential systems is they punish parties that are hated. Reform are few people's second choice.
