These facts create *justified* distrust not only between those two communities but from each of them to the broader institution, and lead both to look for support from off-campus actors whose interests and incentives point toward making things worse. Knowing all this doesn't solve the problems. 3

Hold two thoughts in your mind at the same time. Pro-Palestinian speech, including academic speech as well as activism, has been uniquely suppressed, before & especially since 10/7, creating a widespread genuine sense that there's no reason to try to stay within institutionally-legitimate bounds. 1

I don’t think it can be emphasized enough that large language models were never intended to do math or know facts; literally all they do is attempt to sound like the text they’re given, which may or may not include math or facts. They don’t do logic or fact checking — they’re just not built for that
