Today is the last day U.S. hospitals will be required to report COVID admissions, capacity, or occupancy data to the federal government.
This will make it even more difficult to track the state of the ongoing COVID pandemic, as well as monitor potential pandemics like bird flu.

So many things could be made better if we found a way to frame them in a context of enlightened self-interest. Do this because future-you will be grateful even if you don't want to do it to help someone else. People seem selfish these days but don't give up on getting them to do the right things.

Right. They didn't die and didn't stay sick for a week or two. It helps but it isn't perfect. Until we have perfect, I'll take what I can get.

The potential election results are terrifying and in the past, I'd have been knocking on doors to get out the vote but I just can't this time. I accept that and don't feel guilty about it, yet if the potential is realized, it will be very difficult not to feel just a tiny bit responsible.

Sometimes I get pleasantly surprised that such a task turned out to be quicker and easier than expected, but it is rare. At least it is nice to know the dread and procrastination were justified and it wasn't dumb to have felt about it the way you did.

A lot of people do it just for the Married Filing Jointly tax benefit and/or to get on one health insurance plan, especially if no new offspring are expected or desired. No religious aspect to it at all, it just saves money. Probably not what this clown is thinking at all.

The one I still do on occasion is when I'm purchasing one or two small non-food items and the place is dead and the cashier asks, "Do you want a bag for that?" I have been known to answer, "No, I'll eat them here." just to see their reaction. I'll stop.

I moved here in 1980 from Norfolk. The first time I heard the Wednesday noon Tornado Siren test, I was very concerned. In Norfolk, it was an Air Raid siren test (due to the Navy base) and was on a different day of the week. So I momentarily thought we were under attack.

My PT says that my frozen shoulder was due to decades of using a mouse wrong, but in my sleep, I did the one more thing needed to set it off. [Do not use your shoulder when moving a mouse - it is for big movements, not millions of tiny ones.]
