Here is something nice: I'm a member of my local Elks Lodge, because it's got a great bar and there's not a lot of bars in my town. And bimonthly I get the most Achewood magazine in the world, which contains articles of interest to Grandpas
The Elks lodge in Burbank occasionally hosts a blood drive, and I've donated there a couple of times. Obvs each time it was the middle of the day so the bar/club facilities weren't in use, but dang if it doesn't look like a nice place to hang out!
I just let my membership lapse but the Elks are a pretty alright organization. nice to check out little hole-in-the-wal lodges when you're traveling. folks are always happy to roll out the red carpet (that is, buy shots) for visitors
But what it also has is SEVERAL multi-page spreads detailing the charitable events and donations local Elks lodges around the country do. A lot of these donations are like $500 - $4k. Some of them are uh much larger!
