I need you, if you can, to get vaccinated:
Covid vaccines are produced by commercial manufacturers; if there's no demand, they simply won't produce supply.
They're distributed by commercial pharmacies; if there's no demand, pharmacies won't go through the trouble of stocking & distributing.
We need better covid vaccines.
The more demonstrable market demand there is for covid vax, the more resources get devoted to producing better covid vax. Likewise, if vaccines aren't being used - if there's no demand, if vials are getting thrown out? Coming up with a better vax is a lower priority.
There is a renewed funding push from project NextGen, BARDA and NIH for Long Covid and new vaccines. It’s about $500M total last time I looked. The Vaxart oral vaccine product seems most interesting to me at this point.
