There's a whole trend among reactionary centrists and reporters to claim "but PPP is different, student loans weren't meant to be forgiven." Except they were. Congress gave the relevant agency broad powers to modify student loans, just the same as PPP. www.federalregister.gov/d/2023-13112...

It’s the prosperity gospel dictating who the government deems worthy. Every government assistance program works on the idea that the less money you have, the less trustworthy you are. No one says, “Millionaires will just buy drugs with their tax breaks.”
