Jack Dorsey could have received a check for $978 million from Elon Musk but instead he rolled over his shares into the obviously mismanaged and debt-saddled "X" and now his interest is worth maybe $100 million on paper but in reality far less because it's illiquid and still heading towards zero.

I usually characterize that as Dorsey betting a billion dollars that Musk wouldn't fuck up Twitter ... and losing.

OMG. I had just (naturally) assumed that the Twitter folks took Elon's money and laughed all the way to the bank. Yes, Dorsey was a special kind of stupid for thinking Musk's "all Nazis, all the time" management of Xitter would be profitable.

Gee, it sounds like he got a nice heaping dose of karma, except it's the kind that's pronounced "Haha, fuck you!"

Musk could also just pay that fine and walk away from the purchase that he had come up with when he was extremely high.

To be fair Musl promised to buy him out at 54.20 if he rolled over. So Musk wrote him an option if he chooses to cash it.

Wait. Are you suggesting I should feel deep sympathy for Jack Dorsey? Really?

Apparently they have a side deal that Elon will pay him the purchase price for the shares if Jack wants them... www.axios.com/2023/09/12/e...

LOL, I hadn’t heard that he’d declined a cash payout & let his Twitter stock ride. What a dumbass. No wonder he’s back at trying to pitch X-Twitter as the place to be.
