It’s why when some of us (trans women) experience a monthly cycle, they get so angry. How dare we be included in the suffering? Such a bleak view of women.

(This held until 8th grade. I couldn't make sense of evolution not being real. Massive cognitive dissonance can only block so much.) But if you didn't come from this, understand: The passionate desire to protect their kids was REAL, however misguided. If it doesn't scare you, it should. (5/5)

So, I resolved to listen to it but felt like it was weird that this was the *one issue* where modern science was just wrong. And we knew it for sure. Mostly to this day I remember the absolute FEAR she tried to instill on the point. (4/5)

She told us, paraphrased through decades of memory, "Now, you might learn about this is school, but if you do, you need to not believe it. Tell your parents and remember how wrong it is." Now, this was weird. I trusted my teachers. I was a good kid (tm). But she seemed *so scared* by this. (3/5)

We went up as usual but the lesson wasn't from any of the lesson books. Instead a woman, who was my art teacher in elementary school, got up and asked if we had heard about evolution. I had and I knew I wasn't supposed to "believe" in it, but suddenly this conversation had *weight*. (2/5)

So, Crazy Fundie Chronicles #1. Let's start with a light one: I was in first grade (late 80s-ish) and went up for the children's lesson before the kids left for Sunday School. This was usually taught by a volunteer who would talk about the Bible lesson for the day or similar. One day... (1/5)

I mean, I opened up to my dad a few days before he was due to visit and I couldn’t stand to boy mode one more day, and he disowned me. But, my advice is that the best you can do is be kind and clear in explaining. The rest is theirs to handle. DMs always open if you need to talk about it.

I grew up being told that Jesus was coming back any day now and that we needed to live our lives accordingly. It sounds and is insane but when you mold your entire community around it, perverse evil like Project 2025 is so easy to accept. Take them at their word on their wishes.
