Very cool talk today at #CellBio2023 by Ismail Abdus-Saboor about sensation of gentle touches. I recommend to check his papers, I learned so much about the importance of touches, why we want and need to be touched and what happens when we are touched.

I’m a big fan of dual talks! They give a fresh angle on the topic and highlight the importance of sharing the knowledge and expertise. Sarah Cohen @cohenlaboratory.bsky.social and James Burgess nailed it at #CellBio2023 and showed there’s enough space on the stage for two. A great talk from both!

Beautiful talk by Juanma at #cellbio2023 about actin assembly and contraction on blebbing cells! Everyone interested should check out his preprint about the topic. Cool movies and a theory : www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

Last few days to apply for our open call to join my new department at the University of Dundee. There are lots of great reasons to apply: we have outstanding infrastructure, supportive friendly colleagues, and a city full of natural beauty.

An excellent study by Lamb et al from Di Pietro lab on yeast #actin Capping Protein. CPI-motif proteins Bsp1 and Aim21 synergistically recruit CP to actin patches, whereas twinfilin promotes the CP turnover. Brilliant biochemistry and cell biology, happy to see this it’s finally out!
