This is an excellent lecture on the films Voices from the Global South that discuss the impacts of colonialism, capitalism, imperialism on those most affected by climate change. As Prof. Sultana says there is a "devaluation of expertise" of indigenous/local voices when we should be listening.

This is correct, blocklists are being weaponized and it’s a harmful manipulation of public discourse since it’s often used to silence and suppress BIPOC voices, and definitely those against genocide. Otherwise I can’t explain how I went from zero block lists before genocide to being on 94 now.

Figured it out, i can’t see since they blocked the person they quoted, who i responded to. I agree though, block lists are being weaponized and it’s not always useful or safe for BIPOC folks on here

So strange that the person was clearly responding to something i said, or had tagged me, but i have no idea what their post said or how they could see me unless i wasn’t blocked before their post. I suppose they’re block-worthy if so many of us had them blocked anywhere 😂

The climate community will likely know famous climate scientists & advocate Dr Saleemul Huq, who passed away few months ago. Documentaries that contained interviews with him were part of my keynote lecture at the Royal Geographical Society last week. Video of my talk is here:

Saleem was a lifelong collaborator, mentor, colleague, friend. I’ve known him since 1997. The keynote lecture I delivered at the Royal Geographical Society this past week has video clips of interviews with him (and others). Video of my lecture & the panel discussion afterwards is here:

That’s my theory, it started with the genocide & my mixing up my posts on climate justice, development/water politics, anti-colonial/anti-imperial theories to also include posts on Palestine & the genocide, and fighting with zi0 asshats. Some ppl created other libelous discourse too, thus more lists
