Worth remembering that Trump tried to overturn the ACA without a replacement, which could have brought back lifetime caps and revoked coverage for pre-existing conditions. In other words, if he'd had his way, many more Americans could have gone bankrupt and died.

There is a tension between the head of a news business explicitly advocating for more deregulation and the many journalists who have covered how a lack of regulations has hurt regular people. Regulations are why there are seatbelts in cars and limits to acceptable levels of lead in food products.

So I want to talk about this from the perspective of someone who does professional fact checking as part of my work. For some years now I have been paid to check TV and written content themed around animals to make sure it is factually accurate. Chat GPT & AI has made that job so much harder.

Hot take: I'm truly not interested in hand wringing over how much people will miss enjoying the books of men who have turned out to be abusers. I'm far more concerned about the missing art that women haven't been able to create/publish because they crossed paths with such men.

The Asp caterpillar (Megalopyge opercularis) also called the 'puss caterpillar' is the larva of the flannel moth. They look fuzzie-wuzzie, but the larva contains a secret: hidden in the soft hairs are dagger-sharp hollow spines containing a venom that causes intense pain. (📷: Judy Gallagher)
