Absolutely infuriating that we have no infrastructure to notify the population of these trends. City public health departments should be monitoring local wastewater and sending alerts to the entire population when it crosses a specific threshold.
My wife has been doing this for Kansas City for several months but no one wants to hear about it. Particularly the media (or state health departments).
part of how we responded to the COVID-19 crisis was making sure there was no good way to actually monitor such things any more, because no news is apparently good news
It's Pride weekend, they knew a ton of people were coming in from across the state and attending crowded indoor events.
We all should have gotten a ping on our phones like a week ago telling us to get boosters / stay outside / wear a mask etc. They should also let or told people get re-boosted.
Gee if only all of the ways we had to pay attention to these things weren't already sunset because of uhm hopium and no other reason back to poop water data I guess
We have been left to die in a continuing pandemic. Charging for tests, charging for vaccines, but you do get sick there is medicine but surprise surprise costs you a lot if you don't have insurance. It's horrific.
