Exactly, there's a time and place for it. Out in the woods makes sense. Actively dealing with a situation makes sense. I can't imagine any urgency where leaving that gear in their (generally nearby) vehicle wouldn't be sufficient.

It's kinda funny, any time I've dealt with conservation while actually out hunting/fishing, they've only ever had a radio visible. Possibly pepper/bear spray in a pocket. This guy in a restaurant though, fully decked out.

Reminds me of something I seen while out for lunch the other week. There was a conservation officer dressed basically full out tactical gear. I just shook my head, like "you are a park ranger sitting in a restaurant"

Haven't been seeing as many bees around this year. Maybe it's due to how excessively rainy and wet it's been? There has, however, been an abundance of dragonflies and frogs. Oh, and I seen a big garter snake today, but it slithered off before I could get a picture.

The old truck has been a learning curve. Shifter has a ridiculous long throw. Extremely wide gear ratios. Non-synchronised first or reverse. Mechanical clutch linkage. It's like driving a dump truck! But all in all, it's amazing how quickly the habits come back.

Update on the old truck. -still waiting on a new filler neck for the gas tank. -replaced the front springs and shocks. Went with big block springs, cut them down to lower the truck 1.5-2 inches, so they're a fair bit stiffer than stock. -working on pulling the back springs now. New ones on order.

Well, I finally got the gas tank back on the truck. 2/10 job, do not recommend. I've got long arms and dexterous fingers and still had a lot of trouble hooking those hoses back up. And in typical old vehicle fashion, found more issues that need fixing. :/

I had a deer munch on my elderberries after I first planted them, but they've left them alone since. Deer kinda learn by trial-and-error, so now that they realize it's not a great food source, they shouldn't bother it. Or if they're real persistent, I put little wire cages around the plants.

This is probably part of why everyone on bluesky is 38 years old: 38 year olds are basically the only people who consider it totally normal to flee a sinking ship and then just casually resume the conversation on the tropical island they end up on. They've outlived dozens of ships.
