But that’s not no-fault; the person who said they had an affair would be financially punished by the court in the resolution of the divorce. It also doesn’t allow for unilateral divorce—I.e., an escape when one person wants out and the other doesn’t.

Yeah that’s true, it’s more accurate to say conservatives think “no-fault” means “getting divorced simply because you no longer want to be married” and they don’t think that should be legal either

I can’t speak for all jurisdictions but in most (including where I’ve lived and got divorced, where I needed grounds) the financial resolution of the estate is not driven by whether/why you have grounds for divorce in the first instance.
