They’ve certainly apportioned enough policymaking power to themselves that a Democratic President won’t be able to reverse many of their choices. But at least two, maybe three of the Republican appointees are eager to retire.

Going public with an experience like this is life-altering for a woman, so when you read these stories remember both the extraordinary amount of courage involved and also the likelihood that there are many others you’ll never hear.

If anything the Times article undersold the gravity of the cooperation with Cuomo. She didn’t just give him generic advice; she specifically told him to go ahead with an illegal retaliation scheme against one of his accusers.

It would also be the kind of thing that would draw a real contrast between the parties, if only because it’s precisely something that Trump would never do, and which Republicans could never countenance.

I don’t think Biden stepping aside would guarantee anything about the ultimate result of the election, but I do think it would be a genuinely, rarely honorable act of self-awareness and self-sacrifice for a greater good. He could spin it as a Cincinnatus gesture with some justification.

The case for Harris in a nutshell. I’m not a big Harris fan but she is not only comfortable on abortion—an issue whose salience Biden has squandered—but she does an excellent job linking abortion and democracy. Plus, she’s the only possible replacement with any claim to democratic legitimacy.

Roberts, overruling Chevron with incredible and unearned hubris: "Perhaps most fundamentally, Chevron’s presumption is misguided because agencies have no special competence in resolving statutory ambiguities. Courts do."

Trump is a uniquely weak candidate: he has felony convictions, innumerable scandals, a bad and recent track record of governance, and what’s uniformly recognized as an odious, repugnant character. But he has something Biden doesn’t: the ability to campaign. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

This is not what they ruled; they ruled than an injunction can stay in place while the case proceed through the lower courts. This headlines makes it sound like the Court vindicated the right to an emergency abortion; they did not.

But that’s not no-fault; the person who said they had an affair would be financially punished by the court in the resolution of the divorce. It also doesn’t allow for unilateral divorce—I.e., an escape when one person wants out and the other doesn’t.
