Thank you! I'm really loving learning to spin because you can make such pretty and functional things, and it's quite meditative while spinning. (And as a bonus most of it is biodegradable, but I can't completely stay away from sparkly fibres 😆)

I've been allergic to every locally processed order of locks so I do need to learn to do it myself (because they use very scented detergents to scour), but it's going to take some adapting and figuring things out. Ouch.

Definitely bit off more than I can handle with a raw fleece order. It was on sale and I expected it to arrive in some sort of sealed fashion - nope, just dumped in a box. So it really needs to be scoured asap. Learning about muscles I didn't know I had while going slowly through it (w/ lifting help)

My wheel arrived on Friday, and I've made 3 skeins so far. First was odds and ends to get used to it (brown n yellow), second a really lovely bamboo/merino blend trying for consistency, and 3rd was to use unconventional materials so attempted art yarn. Happy with the wheel so far! #TourDeFleece2024

MCS is terrifying because things still affect you even when you can't smell them, and one of the first things that happens with even a mild reaction is losing sense of smell.

There's a gap around where our air conditioner pokes out the window and apparently my neighbours are burning something I couldn't smell (due to inflammation) but was sneaking in via the AC gap still. Nearly needed my epi pen but I think I'll be okay with the other rescue meds. 😭 Missing central air.

That's frustrating. A lot of people I think are waiting to see what happens with interest rates in the new gov. Guessing you can't lower the price very much? That's usually the problem when something sits too long, or the photos being too busy/dark.

I haven't been able to for a lil more than a month because my thumb got really angry with the drop spindle flicking. 😢 I like bulky singles so I wouldn't have been able to do that on the nano, but I may get one at some point though for fun plying threads. 🙂

Not me anxiously checking the tracking info and hoping my spinning wheel arrives before the start of #TourDeFleece24. I'm working on a woven piece for an art competition at the Wrexham Miners Project due Aug 31, so spinning the wool for that during TdF before moving. (Finally have completion date!)

If they do a phone assessment, make sure to record the call. I'm sure that helped for me because the assessor went slowly and the report was very accurate. I really hope you're successful this time. 🤞

It happens so rarely in general that I will celebrate this small win. A friend is having to take them to court because they decided her severely disabled son turned 16 so he's no longer disabled and doesn't need PIP. Things like that shouldn't happen! 😔

In an absolute first for my life in the UK, something went right without having to put up a huge fight. It's hard seeing how much independence I've lost laid out, and knowing much of this wouldn't have happened with adequate healthcare & COVID prevention, but grateful to have support now via PIP.

Hilariously, they tried to fix the algorithm and got improvements for some disabilities, but no improvements for others. That is, for some disabilities, the biases are so deeply ingrained in our culture that these applications can't weed them out, even when trained on DEI. As stated in the article:

i think that moving the needle on climate change is going to involve (among other things) a paradigm shift in our approach to failed solutions our collective instinct is “revert to the last thing that worked” we need to think, “what failed? was it the whole solution, or can we move forward more?”

Many of these terpenes are known sensitisers and common allergens, so the human results may be very different. The push to extract and concentrate cannabis terpenes, or source from other plants and then use in canna vapes & oils, is dangerous for many of us. journals.lww.com/pain/abstrac...

Yeah ... So not only was she being put into opioid withdrawals, she was on an SSRI too and that sent it over the edge to serotonin syndrome. It was horrendous, and rather than treat it medically she was abused in a psych ward. 🤬 They never tested for serotonin syndrome so she can't sue.

Got to love the NHS - almost kills the person by misprescribing a high risk drug combo and then withdraws all treatment permanently because of their mistakes. (Always check for interactions on the BNF and on US based interaction checkers - they seem to miss most here, but that was on BNF in red.)

Bup might affect your cannabis tolerance too. A friend was on high strength patches and could tolerate boatloads. Her doctor then prescribed tapentadol on top of it and an SSRI causing serotonin syndrome and now they won't treat her pain at all. Once off patches, she had a much lower tolerance.

I woke up with a subluxed shoulder so my ribs are screaming today, sleep is seriously the most dangerous time of day for me. Have to drive partner to train station later, so no meds til after. I hope yours settles a bit with the meds + nap!

They have a craniosacral therapist speaking too. (Basically chiro-light), and a few other "brain retraining" types. Fuck the EDS Society. (Also just waiting for them to say the Norris lab found a new condition, not hEDS, because it's not a collagen gene 🙄 )

In the US compounding pharmacies were a lot more common, it's one thing that makes me very frustrated with care here. I'm sorry they don't understand it, MCAS and allergies makes it very difficult. I tolerate some opioids but not all.
