I feel like at least some of the elite pushing to replace Biden are doing so because it will be done through a non-democratic process that the elite will have outsized influence over.

The “it is inevitable” discourse is designed to disempower actual pushback and demoralize voters to turn away or give up on democratic processes and voting. As much as it may seem like things have fully collapsed. Winning the election keeps options on the table that give us actual power to stop this

The Declaration of Independence was a series of grievances the colonists enumerated against King George III. The colonists wrote the document explaining why they were breaking away. There are a few line items having to do with colonial dissatisfaction with migration policies. (1/12)

When I was a teenager, I organized a protest with a couple of friends after Michael Griffith was killed in Howard Beach. Almost no one showed up. I think we had 6 people [including us 3 organizers]. I was crushed. I cried to my dad & he asked: "what did you say to the three people who joined you?"

What I hate about this is that its core premise is that the only thing that matters is what we achieve as individuals. The entire concept of achieving collectively, which society itself is built on, is just ignored. This is also what I dislike about the American passion for individualism.

I think the biggest thing is they have information we don’t. This means everything said on here and by pundits on the news is speculation based on assumptions that we have no hope of turning into facts. Which is fun, but not useful.

A lot of people, including teachers, don’t have any understanding of what ai is or how it “works.” This is also why a lot of teachers were putting far too much faith in ai detectors.

Yeah, I absolutely struggled with that one but it was worth the work. Halfway in I realized I should have been taking notes. On Revolution was an easier read that also has some solid insights.

I don’t understand your question. The NCLB requires schools to give recruiters lists with directory info for all students. There’s nothing about grades on the lists.

Also, recruiters, in my experience, prefer spending time in schools and at events because calling several hundred students every day is really boring.

Well if you Google a bit more, you’ll see that NCLB also requires schools to notify parents of the option to opt out. So feel free to be angry at your parents and/or school. Either way, recruiters were not salivating over a kid struggling to graduate.

Hi, I worked in recruiting. Public schools are required to give student info for all students (not just the ones with bad grades) unless their parents opt them out. Also, targeting poor kids or kids with bad grades isn’t a good strategy or one I ever used. Other questions?

The poor and wealthy are both under represented in the military (for different reasons). Middle to lower middle are most likely to join because they’re the ones most likely to benefit from the SES advancement that the military can offer them.
