Senior citizen Bingo is no joke.
That take the game very seriously.
In other news, my maternal grandmother managed to get herself into serious debt playing Bingo.
Ah, the secrets you learn after a loved one passes...

Today I tried to ride my horse. Instead I mostly cried while Toledo let me hug her.
Meanwhile, Tau isn’t finishing her meals. Ziva was her partner in crime. They’d always rush to the door, sitting side by side, when I came home from the stables.
Today nobody was there.
Tau was hiding.

Because having control over your own life is a bloody fabulous feeling.
Having control within community could also be nice.
But let’s not pretend “asking for help” is brilliant even if the people providing said help are lovely.

Climate change is when your dear dog and her friend dies in winter from the bite of a cobra, who should have been in hibernation.
My poor, girl and her friend. It is a terrible way to die.

I got asked to change a word common amongst many disabled to one abeled readers are familiar with.
I considered doing it & decided no. It isn't out there, I've used it before in the same publication, and, honestly, disabled writers shouldn't be asked to make things easier for abled readers.

This is right up there with straw bans, "don't use air con during a heat wave," and reusable bags.
Mostly performative, and meanwhile, rather than reduce we've got AI to suck up our fresh water while draining energy.
Excellent, excellent. So glad we got our eyes on the real problem...art.

In late April, Husband did a motorcycle tour. During it, various animals tried to steel his food, including some jackles.
But the best was these dassies. A few stood in front of him and performed the ultimate cute act while another slipped behind him and took off with his pepperoni stick.

Thank you. Very helpful.
And depressing.
But confirmed by threats of alpaca farming really should become reality because this bullshit is exhausting.
Not that farming isn’t. But at least animals are cute.

And that night, we stopped somewhere in the forest to discover some poor bat plastered to our Crysler minivan’s grill and, poor bat (RIP), but then we made jokes that we now had a genuine Batmobile.

Once upon the 90’s I was in a forest warming up for another day at baseball camp to gregorian chant when I got pulled aside to be informed my grandfather had died.
So my parents fetched me on the way to Portland for the funeral & they had to bring me clothes b/c all I had was baseball gear.

We all had to do a project. Mine was on the AIDS crisis, where mothers were being denied meds to prevent transmission of HIV to the baby.

Aircon isn't used a lot in South Africa. Usually fine. But there was one Christmas where we were visiting fam and the temp sky rocketed to past 100F.
It was a dry heat but still crazy hot. The unheated pool felt like bathwater at 10PM.
Only thing to do - wet shirts and lay in front of a fan.

"When you pull, you feel the force of the water on the oars; that was my way to scream and let everything out. But then when the oar comes out of the water, I feel that instant release.” - Oksana Masters
I miss rowing. Such an excellent way to describe it.

She did such a nice job today. Seemed to be full of joy. Cleared every 60cm jump the teen pointed her at.
It was the teen’s first show.

I avoid all of this with Toledo by keeping her mane short. Not that you could braid it if long. It just turns into whispy straggles.
She takes her Appaloosa roots very seriously.

We don’t have to braid for show jumping.
I was told there were supposed to be 12 braids, hence the chunks.
But I wasn’t told until I was done that they are supposed to be on the right. I just got lucky that’s the side she wears her mane.

The problem with dressage is they want braids in mane. I have suggested we just give Renfri a punk-short haircut like Toledo’s. Teen was horrified.
So now I have to do a horse’s hair. Which I find ridiculous. But so are many dressage rules, like snaffel.

Tomorrow I will be doing my first dressage test. I will be riding my daughter’s horse, Renfri (right).
I practiced on Toledo, who does not do snaffles. Thus…this might not be my finest moment.
Toledo will be there, jumping 60cm with her Wednesday teen. It will be the young lady’s first show.

I have also seen false marketing - calling books romance when they just happen to include one.
Marketers need to understand that the romance label comes with expectations and it is a poor strategy that might produce initial sales but then results in angry reviews.
