The NYT has zero cohesion of thought. They will run the wildest, reputation scrubbing BS in one section, then in another section, a thoughtful treatise from the opposite POV that three people read. I hate it.

Anyway, I’m fine, no covid, maybe don’t buy FlowFlex if you can avoid it, and TEST AS A PREVENTATIVE MEASURE PLEASE AND THANK YOU.
DO IT FOR GRITTY BECAUSE AMERICA DOESN’T DESERVE IT THIS YEAR.

2) I’ve gotten variations on “Glad it’s not covid, sorry you’re feeling poorly!”
…I wasn’t feeling poorly. I feel fine, but I *did* walk in Pride with ~300,000 of my new neighbors. Like hell I was inviting people into my home without sticking a swab up my nose! (cont)

Two more things of note:
1) A friend of mine asked if we used FlowFlex tests, which we had. (Partner tested as well, negative from the jump.) She said that she’d heard a lot of false positives being reported from that brand. (cont)

I went bc either a PCR would say I was fine, and if I wasn’t, I could get a scrip for paxlovid, because ooh boy, am I a walking pile of preexisting conditions and comorbidities.
Thankfully, I got the clean bill of health part and not the thing that will give me metalmouth. (cont)

I got the faintest of positives…and then it went away. So I tested twice more, and again: the faintest of positives. Texts sent to my friends, and off to the urgent care with me, then!
They gave me a PCR, testing for covid and influenza A&B.
All came back NEGATIVE! (cont)

Hey friends, here’s a 4th of July in 2024 story for you:
We’re having folks over for burgers and beers and seeing what fireworks we can see in our new place. Because I walked in Pride on Sunday, I did the responsible thing and took a home test… (cont)

I'm always torn in the "just leave!" discussion, because I think if a person feels anxious enough to leave, that's not frivolous or a whim.
But leaving includes the privilege of having somewhere to go. It includes a defecit of reasons to stay.

Today is as fraught for me as a lot of people, but man. I have the passports and naturalization papers for my grandparents, and the passport for my great-zayde.
Knowing what they all went through to move here, that stuff hits. ESPECIALLY since I just left Texas at the mere *whiff* of similar.

Eh, “The Astronaut’s Wife” is but a pale shadow.
(Please receive this as the levity it was intended. This whole thing sucks, and it sucks to be held up as the “guilt free” version of something.)

Imagine for one second if the NYT marshaled its massive influence towards voter registration, towards supporting voting rights groups, towards encouraging people to vote and fighting people who try to stop people from voting.
Imagine if the NYT actually championed participatory democracy.

I want it not to be true, but I also think discounting it because of the team behind the podcast is the worst kind of “we only believe people when we like them or dislike the accused.”
Anyway, buckle up kids. This one’s going to be rough.

Did he do the things he’s accused of? Less credibly than caught-on-photo Franken, but still credible.
Are the people supporting those who came forward on the level? At least as on the level as the people who supported Franken’s accuser.
TL;DR: “Trust, but verify” means it’s worth looking into.

Paramount/Viacom is absolutely still on my shit list, but I just discovered Comedy Central’s Roast of William Shatner is on Paramount+.
I’m sure some of it has aged REAL BAD, but when I tell you it is the ONE thing on the DVR I was sad to lose when we cut the cord…

I joke on here, often at democrat's expense, and I don't see a point in having any mercy about it when I do it.
Please understand that I'm not joking when I say the incumbency advantage is absolutely a real thing, and it's impossible at this point to tell if there's a dem worth giving it up for.

It’s like people already forgot what Stacey Abrams (+ her org, and other orgs) managed to accomplish in 2020. Grassroots efforts by real majorities in real places where real people live! Writing off whole states as “lost causes” is part of the ingrained apathy that got us in this mess.

Donald Trump called Biden a manchurian candidate and said Israel should "finish the job" and nobody is calling for him to step down and it's making me feel fucking crazy. It's people are saying this shit at this point just because they *can* influence the democratic party.

It was the middle school play one year, and idk how, but Grandpa was played by a 6th grader who full on became an old man. He was *great.*
