Good news. I'm looking forward to being able to read and vote on the proposed deal. Hope that they now can close an acceptable deal with SAG-AFTRA. (This is a gift link so it should work.)
The best news is that at least by this report, the studios had to cave on nearly everything the WGA wanted! Here's hoping it's really as excellent as it seems.
Very interested for how or if it may affect how that written work is manipulated or not afterwards in ways that affects localization, as a translator who will have to fight for his work to not be "pre-done" by an AI in the future.
thank you for the gift link so we can read this! I'm so happy the WGA got this deal -- i really hope SAGAFTRA can get an equally fair one soon! But it's high time those who help provide the backbone of all entertainment get their fair share!
I feel relieved for all writers everywhere - fingers crossed for the final WGA contract verbiage passing muster, for studios meeting SAG-AFTRA's demands, and for a ripple effect of valuing and paying people in all creative industries more fairly for what they make.
I know it’s made things rough for many writers, so I’m glad it’s coming to an end, but I’m even more glad that the WGA is getting most of what it’s asking for. Worker exploitation is a sickness in our society and I’m glad writers are going to be getting what they’re owed! Yay for collective power!
that answers my question as to what happens next to make the deal un-tentative! i hope it's everything the writers want and need and deserve.
also thank you for the gift link! i wish more people used them.
Weird how that headline says the agreement "gives writers most of what they wanted" but the article seems to literally provide *zero* detail to back that up. Am I missing something?
