I remember that time I tried to explain to them that calling a nonbinary person a Bernie Bro is misgendering and found out that was a lost cause with that set. Real demonstration of the conditional nature of support for a lot of people.

The US got here from a place and the people responsible are at work in any country that will tolerate them. You can't really escape it by going to one of those countries.

I've watched the permanent residency process and the citizenship process and know it's a lot of trouble. If I'm going to go to that much trouble for safety, I'd rather get off the continent in the process. Also, I've observed Canadian fash are just as insufferable and dangerous as US fash.

4: doing something you love already helps, but doing a thing consistently has a way of making it interesting. This is where doing multiple things helps: you can rebalance focus from one to another if you start burning out. Probably related to why the multi-classers do better. 4/4

3: blending multiple skills seems to lead to the most durable success: there are a lot of brilliant people at one thing no one's heard of, and way more who are okay at two or three but hustled like mad until their business was almost self-sustaining 3/4

2: you need to get lucky a lot to reach those 1000 people: that could be social media, a newsletter, a blog, advertising, events (in-person and online). More likely a combination. 2/4

Four observations from studying creative businesses:

1: you need to make a thing people want (market research!), not just what you want to make: if one does, there's probably 1000, and you can make a living on that. That's your 1000 "true fans" kk.org/thetechnium/... 1/4

I don't care how bluesky famous you are: if you misgender someone with pronouns clearly in their bio while quote dunking on them, you get blocked.

I’d say the book is more geared to inspiring creativity than a technical ‘how-to’ but I’m sure you’d find inspiration there! You might find Alan Moore’s Writing for Comics useful, and I love John Yorke’s Into The Woods for cross media story structure. 1/2

So there's genres of fanart, like there are with fanfic And some of those genres are "pregnant sonic" and "some kind of Christian Sonic deal" And then you get fusions like this which I assume is some kind of spin on the whole deal with the wise men and all that. Big Sonic is probably Joseph

The whole thing sounds rad, but I'll read for this since I want to get into comic writing. Finding good info on writing to the format has been a struggle. Not everyone gets to write for Spiderman with his famous monologues.

I've been watching Hurricane Beryl since it was just a little baby invest. They grow up so fast these days. There's some hopeful signs in the presence of stuff that can disrupt hurricanes depending on its track, but I'd still keep an eye on it.

Hurricane Beryl is now a “potentially catastrophic” Category 5 hurricane, the earliest ever to reach that strength in the Atlantic. Grenada and the nation of St. Vincent and the Grenadines were reeling from a storm that probably will be the region’s most intense hurricane on record.

There's also the lawsuit risk. A large portion of material worth preserving is still under copyright, and the DMCA safe harbor doesn't help if the person/org hosting is the person/org who put it online.
