Biden has decided to stay in the race. This is a huge gamble and one I personally think is deeply irresponsible. Let's say he does ok over the next couple of months and then, in October, has another age-related episode akin to his debate performance or worse. There will be no coming back from that.

Clarence Thomas, who was in Yale Law School when Roe was decided, and lived his whole career in conservative legal circles, testified that he had never in his life discussed Roe with anyone. I'm not a fan of nominees refusing to answer questions about their philosophy, but at least it's not lying.

This is the ball game folks, the authoritarian green light laid out in advance. Congress will not impeach Trump. And SCOTUS now blesses him with extraordinary latitude to do whatever he wants in power. A second administration will not be constrained by Congress, the courts, the bureaucracy or law.

I want to believe those odds. But polling even before the debate showed more than two-thirds of voters thought Biden was too old to be president. So in order to win he has to count on votes from many people who didn't consider him qualified for office, even before the debate.

What will it do to the party after 4 more Trump years? Do you seriously think Biden can win this? Thursday was not a one-off. That's why Biden's inner circle has been hiding him behind locked doors most of his term. If Joe & Jill can't be persuaded that he no longer should be driving then it's Trump

Joe was great, but if you let him keep driving it is clear he's going to wreck the car. And apparently he isn't aware or won't admit that. Most American voters have been pointing this out since well before the last debate. It's late in the game, but not too late to do the right thing.

I hate to open myself up as a target, but I suspect a fair number of people here are ignoring what our eyes and ears all told us on Thursday. It wasn't just one bad night. I would vote for a ham sandwich before I'd vote for Trump. But I sure would prefer someone more viable than a ham sandwich...
