Was mowing the lawn earlier and got very sad thinking about Lower Decks being over soon. That GD show that I never knew I wanted quickly became a foundational part of my Star Trek love. Trying to be grateful for the seasons we have versus bitter it'll end soon, but it's tricky.
What really bothers me is how CBS seems to be going nowhere fast in dangling bits and pieces of all these other projects like SFA and S31 that seem to be in production hell, which are also not the fucking shows we've expressed interest in and asked for
Lower Decks really surprised me. I was expecting Rick & Morty style cringe but got a show made people who really know the source material.
Maybe we'll get lucky and get a movie or a follow up series.
I don’t see why it has to end. It’s great, it’s episodic rather than being aimed towards a logical climax like DS9 or VOY, & S4 showed no signs it was running out of ideas. Don’t take it away, please!
The scene in the penultimate episode of season 4 where Mariner talks about Sito absolutely broke my heart. I didn't expect to like the show either but they've done so much with it (and all the easter eggs are a delight)
I started re-watching it again this week, and was belly-laughing! I forgot how F***ing funny it is, and so many references to all the other franchises.
I was super unenthusiastic about the concept when it was first announced... just couldn't imagine an animated comedy Star Trek from the Rick & Morty guy being a good idea. Now, it jockeys with Deep Space Nine and Strange New Worlds for the position of my favorite Trek show.
