But i also remember that they all went right off the rails late in their runs, except maybe for Miles Morales, which i remember as consistently good until the whole Ultimatum story ruined everything for all the titles.

Cap was such an asshole. Him saying that seemed perfectly in character to me. I don't remember that it was portrayed in a way that made it objectively admirable. But maybe I should also reread it and see what i think now. Right now i remember all of those early Ultimate universe titles being good

I try to remember that the Ultimates was novel at the time, especially coming from Marvel itself. I thought the take on Cap was solid commentary on the over mythologizing of the Greatest Generation. And of course it gave us the Sam Jackson Nick Fury. A terrific addition that was.

The biggest improvement from page to screen comes courtesy of INVINCIBLE, which is just an ok and very repetitive comic that does no justice to its female characters. But the tv show (also done by Kirkman) is excellent. The mom and Eve characters especially. They pop in the tv show.

Millar is hit and miss for me. I liked The Ultimates (until Leob took over and dumped a stinky Loeb all over it), and the Ultimate FF was good, as was Civil War. But, say, Kick-Ass very much did not work for me. For me, the Avengers in Ultimates are a better version of The Seven from the Boys.

I fished the comic and enjoyed it, but it's not in my top top lists. It's a bit repetitive at times, and the misogyny of the evil characters does seem to leak into the objective narrative at times. But still a pretty good book enhanced by having a definitive ending.

Overwork is a trigger, which I've done the last few wks. I definitely caused the one on Monday, as overwork can lead to constipation (I'm missing half my intestines), which itself ALWAYS leads to fever. That was Monday's fever. But today's comes after overwork only. No constipation. So i dunno.

I have not had one of my diverticulitis fevers in months. It felt like real progress. I still have my literally shitty problems, which keep me from working any kind of full-time job on a schedule, but I've been doing more part-time work. Then bad fever on Monday into Tuesday, and now another today.

It's also entertaining af. The degree of difficulty is super high, so sometimes it stumbles, but that's fine. Funny is often its own excuse. Be funny enough, get a pass from me. A super pass even. A diabolical super pass. Also, it's impressively better than the source material.

The Boys does get a tad on the nose. It comes from an admirable dedication to satirizing human dregs who are so satire-proof that often it instead verges on parody. But that's a reason for more butthole stuff, not less. It's not like we get much butthole stuff elsewhere in pop culture. Unfortunately
