Some good news for a change as nutcase anti-abortion activist & former Irish Times journalist John Waters (no not that one) loses a High Court defamation case and has to pay €35K damages against the writer he defamed, Kitty Holland of the very same Irish Times.

So his knee-jerk reaction to being accurately described cost him his seat on the BAI AND the 30 grand he squeezed out of RTE. Gods, that is delightful news.

This is the same John Waters who successfully sued RTE when Rory O'Neill aka Panti described him as 'homophobic' several years back. The Streisand Effect around that case made Panti an international media figure. Waters has said if he lost the Holland case he would be "ruined". Let's hope.

When I first saw the Pantigate stuff I thought "Oh no, John Waters of all people doing some kind of transphobic-cis-gay heel turn?!" & was both relieved & felt very foolish to find out no.
