Where I come from it is perfectly legal to burn whatever flag you like. Not very polite, but still legal. I must admit that there have been a few occasions when I wanted to put the national flag on the Walpurgis' night fire. It mostly involved disastrous WC finals w. Finland (ice hockey).

In the US, it is the same. As long as you own the flag, you can destroy it however you want. The case people cite about someone being arrested for burning a pride flag was someone burning a flag they didn't own so they got arrested for arson.
