It's also frustrating because Airbnb fills a niche that hotels have never even tried on outside resort towns (self-catered accomodation for families and groups) so if it stopped it would actually be a loss.

It seems v clear that the EU should step in and regulate services like airbnb to firewall rental, and even retail markets from their effects. The idea that the Spanish housing stock should be able to accommodate double the national population each year is ludicrous.
