I mean, they could just DO it, I guess, but normally it’s expected that there are hearings and evidence etc. and I’m not sure how any of that could happen, if the pres decides to tell congress to fuck off.

I suppose that was always an option. But if he refused to turn over subpoenaed evidence he could not be tried for that as a crime? Still he can be impeached even for that. Would he just not leave the office even if convicted? That’s when “who does the military obey” enters the drama.

Yeah. Impeachment is more theoretical than practical now when it was impractical to begin with.
