There's not a chance of the right doing anything material to reduce the power of the gangs. If they did, their ability to scare voters would be diminished and there would be fewer customers for private prisons. This govt needs the gangs.

Looks like in the UK, the harder right the tory, the smaller the Reform vote and the more likely the tory held their seat. Softer tories were vote split to defeat by reform to let in Labour or the Lib Dems. So, remaining tories shift that party further right. That's bad news.

I'll be going to their websites to look for a watch live option. Have looked for Youtube livestreams in the past. It's great that the polls close after breakfast. Looking forward to an afternoon of Portillo moments and celebratory evening drinks when the UK is waking up to a new Government.

But business has an answer: get the govt to gut worker's right so workers cushion the downturn for business owners. Doing that will of course reduce consumer confidence and spending power still further. Our business leaders are geniuses.

Of all the baffling ideas this govt is pursuing, this one’s a doozy *even by their own lights*: a cost-benefit review of safe speed zones around schools found they’re <checks notes> 45x better for the economy than Simeon Brown’s strictly-school-gate notion!

The Right always plays people for fools for their votes. They championed tradies and dairy owners who have already found out. Farmers are yet to. Climate, customers, FTAs and technology are going to do for them as Govt does all it can not to do anything about any of these risks.

Unfortunately, I think there's a cap for immediate disbursements from the pot of money this comes from. Labour coughed up $100k a time too following similar events and put more in from elsewhere later.
