This recipe changed my perspective on burgers at home. It'd work with meatless patties and a vegan cheese. Secret is the caramelized onions and the dollop of mustard when cooking the patties Putting the finished burger in a wax paper sandwich bag made it seem like the real thing. God bless America.

Love this guy. Generally good opinions. He retired after a solid run on the bench when an ideologically-aligned successor could be confirmed. Wrote some forgettable books and accepted little in the way of outside gifts. The bare-minimum, but few recent Dem appointees seem willing to do even that.

It's time for people to tune out that paper's editorial side entirely, if not the whole paper. But publishing things like this is the clearest sign yet for me that the opinion editors feel that they're just fin de siècle chroniclers and that the country they lived in will end, or even must end.

This is a good example of the contagion Biden is facing. In his coalition, people who have an irrational West Wing-pilled take on the Presidency now feel they have permission to say loudly "it's really *other people* who won't vote for him, so he can't win!" He can't de-age himself, so he's stuck.

Right, and their leverage is: "we think you're going to lose anyway, and we have an incentive to position ourselves for the aftermath." So they are not going to stop, and Biden's team for various reasons doesn't command the loyalty/fear to bring them into line.

It's unfair, but this like putting toothpaste back in the tube. He's doing these now to shore up *Democratic base* support. One of the only clear signals from polling is that voters think he's too old. Any gaffes will be amplified, and events that go smoothly will get minimal positive coverage.

It's a lot like when Dems point out that Republicans are pledging to raise some taxes, and raise prices (through tariffs). The "Trump is a business man" and "Republicans hat taxes" heuristics are so ingrained, you run into a lot of disbelief when trying to convince voters they mean what they say.

There's another, fundamental problem: - Based on polling, the public already believes Biden is too old, all else being equal (many people still prefer him to Trump) - Lots of people are anchored in the past that they don't believe Trump will be able to do these things, even when he says he will.
