Heh. I can give you the lecture on why allowing editing posts is a very bad idea from a safety standpoint if you want, but if you want it I'll do it outside Random's mentions 😄

The only way I can see it remotely working is if you keep all of the previous versions. A “this has been edited” notice with a link to the others

I totally get why that is a bad idea, but it’d sure be nice if there was a way to, within like a minute or so, fix a typo. I’m guessing that’s just not possible at this point, but that would be ideal.

I want the story, but as an SRE with special interests in databases, security, and more casually T&S, let's say "edit" was shorthand for transparently posting subsequent post versions
