Indeed. No one needs to be fair to the NYT. They do nothing to warrant such generosity. They are a profit machine for a few right-leaning centrists exploiting an institution that has failed to evolve to meet the moment, but rather adjusts to extract more money from the audience and advertisers.

Inflation coming down doesn't negate that it was outrageous not long ago. We'd need actual deflation in certain sectors to bring things back to manageable, or much quicker wage increases to keep up. But the flow of wealth to the top must not be slowed.
